Autumn 2016 in 35mm

This autumn has delivered the most riotous display of colour we have experienced since we moved into the woods. The weather at this time of year is typically characterised by deep areas of low pressure, all intent on ripping the leaves off the trees with their associated south westerly gusts before they reach their peak luminance. This year however has been cold, crisp and remarkably calm allowing the alchemy of the autumnal transition to achieve its fullest potential. Oaks have been gold rather than brown, field maples have shone so brightly as the evening light fades that they appear to be bioluminescent and wild service trees announce their presence in ancient woodland with flashes of red and copper. The following is a selection of 35mm images taken around our home this autumn - enjoy!
