The Magical Mushroom Kingdom

This autumn has been a wet, windy and fairly dull affair here in the woods so far; a far cry from the two previous years which delivered warm sunny days and cold nights resulting in riotous displays of autumn colour. There has been one positive from all the wet weather however, our gaze has been diverted from the golden leaves above to the earth beneath our feet and an explosion of fungi working their mycelial magic amongst the leaf litter.

Bilberry bounty and a camping pancake recipe.

Bilberry, wimberry, whortleberry, blaeberry, Vaccinium myrtillus. Whatever you want to call them, foraging for these tiny flavour bombs is our favourite annual wild food excursion. This year was especially fun as it was the first that Benji was able to get amongst the plants and lend a hand, although, in truth, he ate more than he brought home. read on for our bilberry camping pancake recipe!

Yesterday was the first truly warm day of spring so far; In the evening I took a short walk around the woods, chasing the fading orange light and taking mental notes on the activity of the fallow deer, when I heard a crackling, popping sound coming from the canopy. I looked up and around, expecting to see a grey squirrel munching on the pine cones but none could be found. No birds either. What could it be?

It's with great excitement that we can announce the launch of our 'Blank Canvas' rucksack made in collaboration with outdoors carry experts, Millican.

Our blank canvas conversation with Millican started over a year ago during the Keswick Mountain Festival. A few months later, we returned to the Lake District and Millican HQ for a weekend of campfires, cave exploration and hiking to help inspire us to develop a bag that best represented what we do here at Miscellaneous Adventures - the results of which we can finally share with you today.
