Welcome to the Logbook, a place for us to share our adventures, outdoor knowledge and campfire recipes, along with insights into the way we make our products and the work we do around our woodland studio. For regular updates be sure to find us on Substack.

New Year, New Us.

A new year provides the ideal opportunity for a bit of a shake up. Capitalising on the feeling of rejuvenation and potential that a fresh batch of 365 days offers, we decided to use the start of 2018 as an excuse to give our website a complete overhaul. We also used the end of last year and the holidays to think about the way we work and how we could make changes or improvements.

Much of what you’ll see on our new site consists of a gentle spruce up, plus a little reorganisation. We’ve updated our ‘About Us’ page to include more info about the things we do and refreshed our ‘Workshop’ page, which reflects our new seasonal workshop schedule. We have a new page dedicated to our events and corporate workshops, which we hope to run many more of. There are updated product images and we’ve also cleared some space to make way for brand new products, the first few of which will be trickling through in the next few weeks.

The biggest change however, can be found in the new ‘Studio section’. Since it began, Miscellaneous Adventures has been running as a kind of side project to our creative work, but lately projects and commissions have been crossing over more and more. We have also found that we do our best work when it’s related to the things we care about, so by bringing our illustration, design and photography under the Miscellaneous Adventures Studio banner, we hope to work creatively with more brands, clients and individuals who share our values and who enjoy spending time outdoors as much as we do.

It can be difficult sometimes juggling all the things we do; creative work, teaching workshops, making camping gear, looking after a woodland and small estate, managing a vineyard, studying flora and fauna and trying to encourage others to take an interest in nature. This latest change to our site reflects the fact that across all these different things there is a common thread that ties them together: the simple pleasure we take from spending time outside. We hope that we can bring all these activities under one roof, that they will compliment each other and create new opportunities and that we can continue to meet incredible people doing brilliant things.

Over the coming weeks, we will be writing more blog posts sharing insights into some of our creative work, how our products are made and why a connection to nature is so important to us. In the meantime, we hope you like the new site and we welcome comments and feedback. Thank you as always for your support, Andrew & Emma
