Alongside our regular line up of courses and events, we also occasionally host private workshops for small groups and individuals. Earlier this summer we had the pleasure of teaching a one-to-one woodcarving lesson to a London based architect, Daniel who had fond memories of whittling during his childhood in the countryside of Germany. Sitting in the dappled shade on one of the hottest days of the summer, he easily settled into the slow pace of working with hand tools in the woodland environment, carving a wonderful eating spoon from silver birch.
Towards the end of June, Daniel decided to join us again for another one-to-one carving lesson, this time he arrived equipped with a complete set of his own carving tools and we were able to build on his previous experience, carving two utensils from goat willow and looking into sharpening and maintaining cutting tools all the while enjoying the warm summer sunshine streaming through the woodland canopy.
Thank you to Daniel for such pleasant couple of days in the woods, and if you would like to arrange a private workshop then please feel free to get in touch and we’ll see what we can do!
