Aspect Micro Utility Knife

Posted by Andrew Groves on

If there's one piece of equipment every camper or outdoor enthusiast should carry, it's a good knife. Not only essential for food preparation, a sharp sturdy blade is useful for many campsite chores and even for making beautiful or functional things. With that in mind we made the Aspect Micro Utility Knife. With a blade measuring only 45mm it's designed to be small and compact yet highly functional; you don't need a giant hunting knife to chop up a few potatoes after all.

The blade is made by talented blacksmith Alex Pole who we were fortunate to get to know at last year's Good Life Experience Festival. We talked then of collaborating so are super happy to see this project come to fruition. This particular blade is ground from tool steel, which is hardened and then tempered. We'll also have a fully forged version of the knife launching soon. Alex runs knife making and other blacksmithing courses in Somerset which we highly recommend taking a look at.

The handle is hand made by us from solid beech and finished with brass hardware. The distinctive sloped handle design gives the 'Aspect' name referencing slope aspect; the compass direction that a slope faces. It has a soft leather sheath with a lobster clip allowing the knife to be attached to your belt loops, rucksack straps or almost anywhere else.

A small number of these little knives are available on the store now so head on over there for the full details. Thanks heaps to Alex for working with us on the knives and we're looking forward to seeing which adventures they end up going on.
